This course is designed for educators, school administrators and other professionals working with students with ADHD. Learning about Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is essential for educators today. This course provides an understanding of the various subtypes of ADHD and how they can impact academic performance. We'll review the latest research on ADHD and its diagnosis and treatment. We'll also discuss classroom strategies and support for students with ADHD, and look at how teachers can create an environment that is respectful and inclusive of all students. This course is designed for educators who want to gain a comprehensive understanding of ADHD and its subtypes in order to best support their students. Course formats: This course is offered in group courses and online format when available. Acceptance information: This course is accepted for professional development training requirements and annual in-service hours/credits in most states. Learning Outcomes: ● Describe the common signs and symptoms of ADHD. ● Identify the different subtypes of ADHD. ● Explain the impact of ADHD on learning and behavior. ● Utilize strategies to create a supportive learning environment for students with ADHD. ● Examine the impact of ADHD on academic performance. ● Develop a comprehensive plan to address the needs of students with ADHD. ● Understand the role of teachers in the assessment and diagnosis of ADHD. ● Analyze the current research on ADHD and its implications for education. ● Evaluate the effectiveness of various accommodations and support services for students with ADHD. Topics covered: ● Understanding the Diagnosis and Symptoms of ADHD. ● Exploring ADHD Subtypes ● Creating an Inclusive Classroom Environment for Students with ADHD ● Implementing Effective Strategies for Managing ADHD in the Classroom. Assessment methods: Multiple choice quiz and/or written assignments. Instructional methodology: Interactive Instruction, experiential learning, read written material, view videos, and listen to audio segments.
